Seattle is a beautiful place. Don’t get me wrong – I love living here. But by the time February rolls in, the lack of sunshine can get annoying. I was sick of gray skies and rain so much this year that I drove myself to the art store and purchased every shade of the Sun’s colors I could find and went straight to my studio. The largest canvas sitting there seemed to beckon me. The outline of a cow with a sunny disposition was taking shape.
“Pongal”, a harvest festival in India is a special time for cows as well as people. The cows get their horns painted, new bells adorn their necks as they freely roam the streets.
This cow is special. She is bold, beautiful and strong.
