Garuda

Painted on a stretched Anga vastram (Pure cotton garment) stretched on a 48 x 60 inch wooden panel, the painting of Garuda is based on a song called Garuda Dandakam by the poet Swami Nigamantha maha Desikan.

The piece was made using mixed media. The eyes have the inscription of the Gayatri mantra. Each snake was made suing poured resin. Molding paste was used to carve the beak as well as the feathers.

The white pigment was mixed with photo sensitive powder pigments . this painting glows in the dark. The wings on either side have the inscriptions of Brihat and Rathantiram.
